#BalanceTonOeuvre

"The most unexpected exhibition of the season is at Galerie 1993."

"For its first anniversary, the 1993 gallery, little sister Jogging's arty gallery invited Marseille artists to come and hang their works on its walls… impromptu. A unique opening, the lineup and format of which were unknown, and whose outlines emerged throughout the evening, through instinctive, organic hangings. Screwdrivers and hammers set the rhythm, metronomes as grunge as the evening's soundtrack, as the walls became covered with artworks and a joyful, convivial cacophony filled 22 rue Saint-Jacques.

The result? #BalanceTonŒuvre, an exhibition where harmony is born from the chaos of the visual voices present and whose undeniable interest is the variety of works and artists, whose names are scribbled on the walls, whether they are among the best known in the region or the (just) emerging.

More than just an exhibition, it was an artistic and DIY performance orchestrated by Olivier Amsellem (Jogging Marseille) on November 21st. The improvised scenography took the form of a work of art in itself, a collective effort, the hanging of which was evoked by the tools displayed in the center of the room. "This table, nobody knows it, but it's a bit of my work!" confided Olivier Amsellem, the mastermind behind the project.

Drawing on the best of the Marseille artistic community on social media, #BalanceTonŒuvre is proof of the best that can be achieved with these tools, the strength of the collective, and the fervor of Marseille when it comes to coming together to offer beauty, cohesion and joy.
